Kriegerdenkmal | War Memorial

The war memorial is located in the town center, opposite the Catholic Church, in Hirschegg.

Impressively integrated into the village scenery stands the war memorial chapel built in 1935 in remembrance of those who fell in the world wars. It was created through voluntary labor and donations. A call at that time stated: We appeal to the population. Business people and farmers had a good year behind them. The construction costs of about 5000 Reichsmarks could easily be raised. Who would have thought that an even greater disaster would soon descend upon the country?

In 1956, the names of the fallen and missing from World War II were also engraved on marble plaques. The oversized soldier figures in the vaulted interior are a beautiful carving by Wilhelm Math from Oberstdorf.
