Kreuzkirche - Attraction

The Protestant church "Kreuzkirche" is located in Hirschegg "Am Berg".

The first Protestant services in the valley were held in 1925 at the clinic of Dr. Backer in Riezlern-Schwende. In 1940, a prayer room was consecrated in what is now the Schwäbisch-Gmünder House on Zwerbach in Riezlern. The development of tourism made it necessary to provide continuous support for a growing number of Protestant Christians. In 1949, a church building association was founded, consisting of ten families.

At the urging of Pastor Gabriel from Oberstdorf and the association's leadership, the foundation stone for the construction of the Kreuzkirche was laid in 1952. Following the plans of the architect Gsaenger from Munich and under the direction of architect Horle from Oberstdorf, this beautiful mountain church was built in just one year.
