Church of St. Martin

The chapel in Baad is located on the Höhenweg. Walserbus Line 1 - Stop Baad or Mittelberg.

The chapel built in the year 1636 stood about 40 meters northwest of the rectory, which is located directly behind the current church. The burdens were heavy, as the Walser suffered from the terrible plague at that time and had to incur great expenses for defense against the Swedes.

Therefore, the achievement of the families in Baad to build their own place of worship must be acknowledged. The consecration took place in the year 1663 by auxiliary bishop Sigismund of Constance in honor of St. Martin, the Virgin Mary, and St. Wendelin.
