When autumn arrives and the mountain meadows are slowly bathed in golden colors, it's time for a centuries-old ritual: the cattle drive. After a summer on the lush high Alps, the decorated cows return to the valley, accompanied by the Alpine herdsmen in traditional costume. Locals and guests celebrate this impressive spectacle with festive processions, music and convivial get-togethers - a piece of living tradition and an unforgettable experience for young and old.

Important information for general safety

We are delighted that you are joining us as humans and animals celebrate the end of the alpine summer together. The descent from the alpine pastures is unfamiliar to the animals and causes them stress – so please give them plenty of space.

  • Please keep your distance from the herds – for your own safety and that of the animals and alpine farmers.
  • Please stay behind the barriers.
  • Please do not touch or frighten the animals.

You can admire and photograph the decorated cattle in peace at the Scheidplatz.

Thank you for your considerate behaviour – this ensures that the cattle drive remains a special experience for everyone!
