Autumn is cattle drive season cattle drive in Kleinwalsertal

When autumn arrives and the mountain meadows are slowly bathed in golden colors, it's time for a centuries-old ritual: the cattle drive. After a summer on the lush high Alps, the decorated cows return to the valley, accompanied by the Alpine herdsmen in traditional costume. Locals and guests celebrate this impressive spectacle with festive processions, music and convivial get-togethers - a piece of living tradition and an unforgettable experience for young and old.

The Viehscheid 2026 will take place on September 19, 2026.

WHEN & WHERE! PROGRAMME

Last year, you could marvel at 220 animals from Alpe Bärgunt and 190 animals from Alpe Galtöde at the Viehscheid.

There was a colorful supporting program with live music and food at the Scheidplatz in Riezlern.

We are already looking forward to the next Viehscheid in Kleinwalsertal on September 19, 2026!
