Exhibition Opening Christina Elsässer: So Close to the Mountains
Exhibition Opening Christina Elsässer: So Close to the Mountains
Christina Elsässer's drawings are detailed representations of the Kleinwalsertal landscape in coal - a material that symbolizes transience, fragility, and change. The additions with golden ink create a conscious contrast: They represent the appreciation and beauty of nature while simultaneously pointing to its economic value.
Christina grew up in Kleinwalsertal and studies art in Munich. Her interest lies in the relationship between humans and the environment: How do landscapes change through human use? What meanings does nature have for us.
The work was created as part of the project "the open valley," where artists are invited to showcase their works in public. An initiative by artist and curator Mathias Kessler for the cultural and customs department of the municipality of Mittelberg.
